I was born in a seaside town and have lived most of my life in close proximity with piers. Sadly this one has almost completely disappeared, but there was still something left worth photographing when I was in Brighton in the late seventies. The once elegant and fashionable West pier is now little more than a memory and a few twisted iron beams, home only to the starlings, pigeons and seagulls.
