As part of an ongoing project that explores faith, I attended ‘Muhurram Jaloos’ when Muslims empathise with the slaying of Hussain, the great
grandson of the prophet Mohammed. I had not been so closely involved with a Muslim community before this, so didn’t know what to expect,
but I have to say that I was humbled by the openness and warmth with which I was greeted, and the experience will rest with me for a lifetime.
