My main focus these days is a project called 'One Thousand Contemporary Portraits' which I have been shooting now for about eight
months. It began as a discussion about how many images it might take to represent a reasonable cross section of society, and after a few
beers too many it was finally decided that one picture of every living person in the UK should just about do it. I do like a challenge, but that
would take quite a while to complete, even if a rapidly changing population could be pursuaded to stand still for a few years. I therefore
decided to reel in the horizon and aim to complete one thousand contemporary portraits over a period of five years. I expect to be shooting
until at least January 2027, and at the time of writing I have around two hundred candidate images, some of which are featured here.
